About Us

Glenpark Ceilidh Band was formed in 2013 by Ciaran, Calum and Fraser, all former members of the Ayrshire Fiddle Orchestra, following a performance at the Glenpark Hotel for Burns Night. Since then, the band have grown to be a popular choice in the ceilidh scene across Scotland and have been invited to perform at over 200 events nationwide for a wide variety of functions including weddings, birthday parties, student society events and graduation balls, corporate events, Burns and St Andrews nights, festival performances, and have also been featured on BBC’s hit drama, Shetland.

An excellent choice of entertainment for a wide variety of functions, the band are widely sought after both locally and further afield and have an excellent reputation for providing a very high standard of entertainment.

Ciaran McHugh

The violinist in the band, Ciaran McHugh, is a talented musician from Troon, Ayrshire, who along with the rest of the band made a name for himself through the Ayrshire Fiddle Orchestra. Ciaran was a member of the orchestra for 10 years and was leader of the orchestra in 2012-2013.

Under the tuition of world renowned fiddler Alistair McCulloch, he is also a former member of the highly regarded celtic rock group Innovation taking Fiddle music to a new level, performing at venues such as Oran Mor, the Mitchell Theatre, Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and the Usher Hall in Edinburgh. Most recently, Ciaran was also a member of the world acclaimed Scottish Fiddle Orchestra continuing to build on his experience in traditional music. He now performs with the Glasgow Studio Orchestra and provides Fiddle tuition for young violin players in his hometown of Troon along with various other performance opportunities.

Outwith fiddle music, Ciaran has played with numerous classical orchestras, displaying a wide musical talent to a multitude of audiences. He is very experienced and is a popular name in the Ayrshire music scene, sharing his passion for Scottish music to audiences nation-wide.

Aside from his musical career, Ciaran holds a Masters degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Glasgow and works as a Structural Engineer as his day job.

Calum Park

Ayrshire born Calum Park is an experienced guitarist, violinist and vocalist with a rich family history of talented musicians and played under the tuition of world famous folk musicians Sean Gray and Alistair McCulloch. As our dance-caller, Calum can make each event a success while encouraging guests to the dance floor to talk them through the steps.  

Calum also played with the Ayrshire Fiddle Orchestra for many years and has excellent experience in performing live throughout the world. He has enjoyed various international tours promoting Scottish music to sell-out audiences from Ireland to China and Canada. Closer to home, he has also featured with popular artists as part of Celtic Connections, the Fringe Festival and many other folk festivals.

Aside from his musical career, Calum holds a Bachelors degree in Astrophysics and a Masters degree in Sustainable Energy from the University of Glasgow and works as a Hydrologist as his day job.

Fraser Graham

As the drummer of the band, Fraser provides an experienced rhythmic touch to every venue. Fraser is a very busy and well-known tuned percussionist and drummer throughout Ayrshire and has performed with groups such as the South Ayrshire Percussion Ensemble and South Ayrshire Jazz Band as well as many local orchestras. He was lead percussionist in both the Ayrshire Fiddle Orchestra and Glasgow based Celtic Rock group Innovation. He has enjoyed tours throughout Europe, the USA and South Africa, and also features in their latest album.

Fraser has been a pupil of the top Ayrshire-based Percussion teacher Gavin Welsh from the age of eight and has enjoyed a several European Tours under his musical direction. He has played with many local groups, orchestras and bands and often performs for local shows and musicals such as ‘Evita’, ‘Guys and Dolls’ and ‘Grease’ with other professional musicians.

Aside from his musical career, Fraser holds a Bachelors degree in Agriculture from Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC) and has now joined the family business.
